High Traffic is a short film about the pitfalls of obsession between two men who meet for the first time. Each of them has their own obsessive compulsion that by happenstance puts them into conflict with each other and eventually to a tragic "Tongue in Cheek" outcome.
The antagonist is a character named Stoker, a 30-something, clerk, in a modest gardening supply store. His specialty is grass and grass seed, but with extreme prejudice against one type; Kentucky Bluegrass. As a young teenager he witnesses his father being struck and killed by a Kentucky Bluegrass delivery truck. He dwells daily on the videotaped news broadcast that inadvertently satirizes the situation and enforces his daily mantra of "things always don't mean what they appear to".
The protagonist is Justin, also a 30 something, meticulous individual who also has a strong passion for the beautification of his yard. It is chock full of flowers and is anchored by a beautifully manicured green lawn of Kentucky Bluegrass no less. On one particular day Justin discovers an unsightly "Brown" spot in the yard and feverishly attempts the resurrection of it.
Justin's panicked trip to the gardening supply store puts our two characters together. Justin pleads for the whereabouts of the Kentucky Bluegrass seed while Stoker unsuccessfully tries to talk him out of it but not before Stoker has a minor mental breakdown over a memory flashback in front of Justin, exposing his psychological pitfall. Stoker coming out of his relapse swears payback for the unsuspecting Justin.
Justin races home with his purchase, spends the afternoon re-seeding the "Brown" area and calls it a night. Stoker meanwhile plots his revenge with his counterparts. The following showdown in Justin's backyard the next morning brings some unorthodox methods and a twist of fate ending.
